Competition Rules
- Final submissions must be posted no later than Sunday, April 5th. 2009. GMT +-0.
- Teams of up to 3 members are allowed. This includes teams of 1, 2 or 3 members.
- The title of your competition thread must be formatted as follows: SFAM - Team Name (For example: "SFAM - Game Art Guerrillas").
- All entrants must submit a link to a moodboard containing stills from their chosen film and anything else they feel is necessary (concepts, annotation, other reference photos).
- The moodboard must be no smaller than 1024x1024.
- All entries should be original and not a derivative of existing work, including works previously entered in this competition.
- Your first post will include the movies’ title and reference screengrab from your chosen film.
- If you’re to be creating a scene that would fit inside that movie, then you will also need to post up a moodboard of shots that will act as your reference sheet.
- Your final submission will include 2 screengrabs of your final scene posted in the submission thread and links to your 2 screens in wireframe, plus all of your individual textures and movie screengrabs.
- Judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The entrant grants Game-Artist.Net rights to use all entered works, in any media and marketing, provided full and correct credit for the artist clearly appears with said materials.
- The entrant grants the sponsor rights to use all entered works on sponsors websites in the form of free public galleries, in any form of media, including, but not limited to, web galleries, physical galleries, downloadable form, wallpaper collections and screensavers, provided full and correct credit for the artist clearly appears with said materials.
- All artwork that is entered by the deadline is final; it cannot be removed or changed after this point. Game-Artist.Net will not return any material submitted or alter any entry.
- The judges have sole discretion in the interpretation and enforcement of rules, including but not limited to suspension of categories and entrants.
- It is the entrant's responsibility to ensure compliance with all rules. Disqualification of any entrant is not reflected in any public change of status or alteration of their entry.
- There is no chance component in the selection of winning entries. Winning entries will be chosen solely on the skill exhibited by the entrants as determined by the judges.
- Moderators of either Game-Artist.Net or CGSociety/CGTalk, sponsors and judges can compete in the competition, but cannot win any prizes volunteered by sponsors and sponsoring companies.
- Game-Artist.Net reserves the right to suspend, shorten, modify or cancel the competition, or its prize list, at its sole discretion.
- This list of terms and conditions constitutes the complete and exclusive statement of the terms and conditions and supersedes any prior terms and conditions, oral or written, and any other communications relating to these terms and conditions.

Triangle count:
200.000 triangles
Texture limit:
4096 x 4096 for each texture pass (meaning 1x4096x4096 for the diffuse, 1x4096x4096 for specular, etc.
Texture limits consist of anything adding up to:
- 1x 4096x4096 Diffuse map
- 1x 4096x4096 Specular map
- 1x 4096x4096 Gloss map
- 1x 4096x4096 Normal map
- 1x 4096x4096 Alpha map
- 1x 4096x4096 Glow map
- 1x 4096x4096 Displacement map
Engine Specifications:
- No BSP geometry
- Texture-driven shaders only. No procedurals
- Particle Systems are allowed
- Particles are to be budgeted into your scene's triangle count limit.
- Particles are to be textured with your allowed texture space - No procedural effects allowed
- Post-processing is allowed
- Engine-baked shadowmaps are allowed
- Engine-baked reflection maps are allowed
Scene Specifications:
- Your scene should take reference from a live-action movie - No animated/CG/Anime films
- Your scene must be presented in real time (For example: Via a game engine, or 3D app viewport)
- Your scene should be devoid of any characters (Specifically Hero or lead characters, organic characters, etc - This is an environment challenge - Ask if you're not sure)
- Photoshop adjustments are not allowed, apart from resizing or cropping
- Per asset, you are allowed to use engine baked shadowmaps, or you can bake your shadowmaps yourself. A mixture of both is prohibited.
